Back in the fall, Dena and I went to Houston’s 75th Birthday Party at Market Square. It was a celebration of 75 amazing years of Bayou City! There were cupcake trucks and bands playing. The most exciting part was when Dena met Annise Parker!

Dena has a tradition of asking famous people what their favorite breakfast food is. Ms. Parker’s favorite breakfast food is scones! She also pointed out that they may be the culprit for her, ahem, curvy hips.

Dena and I were actually extremely grumpy this day. I don’t remember why we were both so mad, but we were barely talking when we first got to the park. Are you surprised that we get grumpy at each other? Welp, we do. I definitely need alone time and Dena does too.

We eventually cheered up and had a great time. How good do I look in that picture? I think it’s because I’m so tan. At the birthday party, there was a promotion for “My Houston Is Here”. The volunteers from this organization passed out signs (as seen in the picture above). The birthday attendees were supposed to take the signs and take a picture with it at their favorite places in Houston and submit their photo.

If you look closely, you can see Dena and I standing behind Annise (front, in white). We worked so hard to push to the front of this crowd so we would be in all the photos. Some day, we will be celebrities.

Houston is the best city in the world. No icy winters, and there’s always something to do. It’s a big city with a small town feel. There’s hundreds of wonderful restaurants, parks, and it seems like there’s something fun to do every weekend. We <3 Houston!
