Tony arrived in Costa Rica on New Year’s Eve afternoon. We spent the last minutes of 2013 lighting fireworks in the street (I only have pictures of sparklers, but there were legit fireworks too, I promise). Then we spent the first part of 2014 eating grapes (it’s a Central American tradition – eat one for every month if the past year, but actually they were like REALLY big so I just ate one). Today we took a bus to Cartago, a $1 and 30 minute ride south. We walked around the town, saw the cathedral + rainbow and ate lunch. There’s a good story about this girl named Juana who found a little black Virgin Mary statue and a miracle happened (look it up and maybe I’ll show you the little statue I bought there when I get home). All in all it was a pretty bueno day!
