Dena’s Glasses Debut + My Favorite Sandwich

I work two jobs right now and sometimes it can get hectic going from place to place because I take the metro, but one job is Downtown and one job is in Rice Village. On days when I work both jobs, Dena usually comes and picks me up and we hang out for an hour or two. This week, we went shopping and out to Les Givral (which you can read a full review of in my zine, Good Food Good Price 2, which I will be selling at Zine Fest Houston! [i think])

Here’s what I wore (before I changed into my brand NEW dress in the restaurant):

Okay now for the big debut of Dena’s glasses which she bought at Smith’s Optical, the coolest glasses store ever. It’s full of vintage frames, dead stock, inexpensive new items, etc. and it’s all super cheap (or relativelly so!). If I ever get my dang eyes examined I already got my pair picked out.

Me doing what I do best.

thanks girl! they’re not a very strong prescription (they’re really only needed to see things far away) and so the other night i was at a pub and got called out for having “clear lenses” it was so embarrassing! but cute … YES very. i love them a lot.

Give us the deets on the sandwich! What kind/where from?

vietnamese sandwiches from Les Givrals in midtown.
both contain: shredded carrots, cucumber, butter, parsley and jalapenos (we asked for none of those!) I got “tofu” and Makenzie got “egg” (although admitted that she always thinks egg is going to be a good idea and them gets jealous of my delish tofu) either way they were only $2.50 a piece and WAY good and filling.
disclaimer: i’ve heard from a friend that although les givral’s is GREAT there is an even better vieneamies sandwich shop on Houston’s east side. Cafe TH . I have yet to try it but since he seems to go on and on about it – it must be worth it!
