PLEASE DON’T BE MAD AT ME FOR NOT MAKING AN EVENTS CALENDAR THIS WEEK – I’M CRAZY BUSY WITH MY LAST WEEK OF CLASSES BEFORE STUDENT TEACHING AND HAUS STUFF AND AM HAVING TROUBLE MANAGING MY TIME. HOPE THIS SUPER OLD BLOG POST DRAFT WILL SUFICE UNTIL I HAVE TIME TO DO SOMETHING NEW.

MAYBE IF YOU BEG ENOUGH MAKENZIE WILL EVEN DO SOMETHING … MAYBE BEING THE KEY WORD. SHE’S QUITE BUSY WITH KNITTING AND TV SHOWS THESE DAYS.
DSC_0003wednesday night (and by wednesday i mean a bunch of weeks ago) was diverse work’s first annual holiday party. this was my first time at their new location (a block north of the sears at main st and richmond). i’d noticed the strip center evolving over the past few months and couldn’t think of a better tenant that diverse works. the party was coined as both a sweater party + book exchange + and B.Y.O.SNACK event. we participated in almost all of the above. if it had been any cooler than high 80s with 95% humidity maybe i could have thought about wearing a sweater. and although we did participate in the book swap and i proud of myself for not giving in to the FREE food. i’m trying this new thing where i only have 5 sweet “tastes” a day, and seeing that my first 3 were used up before breakfast, and then my 4th at yougurtland, i was saving my last for something really good.

DSC_0010halie got a man raye book, i got a novel that i’m going to give my mom for a christmas present and humm guess tony didn’t get anything.

DSC_0018note the sangria in my hand, it was not very sweet at all, and therefore didn’t at all count as a “taste”. hehe

DSC_0030we stayed for the two readings, each of which related to the exhibition. the first author reminded my of my haus member friend frank and the other is a long time (long time as in 1ish year) acquaintance of tony + me. we got to participate in the second one which was exciting. thanks for that John Pluecker for that.

DSC_0001after that halie went home and tony and i headed over to food not bombs. curious on the current status of the food not bomb’s houston chapter ? check back here in a few days and learn more + some pictures of jamaica, i promise.
